In my first military assignment, I was selected to prepare and present the daily intelligence briefing to a four star general and his senior staff. The generals rely on relevant information within the purview of their command, presented in a way that leads to effective decision-making. As a daily briefer, I had to comb through volumes of intelligence information overnight to select what was relevant and package it up to present to the general for the morning’s Intel brief.
You don’t hear the word “briefing” outside the military much. A briefing is a briefing because it is “brief.” There is nothing better than a nice blend of short and sweet for both the presenter and the audience. Throughout my 22 year career, I had many opportunities to give briefings, but what I enjoyed most was coaching senior officials to prepare and present briefings (presentations or pitches, if you prefer) to Members of Congress. As a Congressional Liaison Officer assigned to the Hill, I provided coaching to senior officials, to include messaging, methodology, delivery and style so they could have maximum impact on a desired outcome or decision.
Today, I blend my expertise as a formally trained briefer with life coaching skills and techniques to bring out your unique strengths and personality for the audience to whom you are speaking. Whether you need just a little bit of polish, want to peak for an important event, need to tap into more power, or seek to glorify God for His good and glorious purposes, I can help.
